Pre School

Pre School

At Hopscotch nursery we offer a large, spacious and free flow room allowing the children freedom to access a large range of learning opportunities throughout their day. Outside we offer an enclosed, safe and fun garden with various areas ranging from a challenging rock climbing wall, to a sheltered quiet area where the children can explore and enhance their creativity. Hopscotch also has an allotment situated near Bloomfield Road. When the weather is nice the children visit here most afternoons to take part in planting and harvesting their own fruit and vegetables.

We aim to provide a home from home atmosphere ran by a dedicated and experienced team who are passionate about providing challenging and rewarding learning opportunities, they help to build an invisible scaffolding around your child which enables them to establish and build their independence. Our primary aim is encourage children to feel confident, happy and content in their abilities, enabling them to be ready for “big school”.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage ( EYFS), as our primary structure for learning outcomes. The EYFS allows us to measure your child’s development enabling us to support your child with specific areas of need. This and any other relevant information such as achievements, interests and behavioural difficulties will be communicated with you on a day to day basis by a member of our small team.

Your child’s personal achievements will be in your child’s learning journey which will be located in their tray which you can access at any time.

To make our pre-school unique and exciting we aim to provide a large range of opportunities in and out of nursery. these include;

Library

The children often take a trip to the library, catching the bus down into town to read some stories.

Allotment trips

Here the children learn all about healthy eating and preparing healthy meals.

Spanish

Katy comes in every Wednesday to introduce children to the foundations of Spanish.

Hop, Skip and Jump

Every Tuesday morning we have ‘Hop, Skip and Jump’ with Helen Smith, a qualified dance teacher (QTS) who has been choreographing and teaching dance for over 15 years! She is highly experienced at creating original and creative movement sessions that support the EYFS framework, but also gives the children the chance to express ideas, therefore developing self-confidence and social skills in a fun, nurturing and engaging environment.

Hopscotch celebrations

Here at Hopscotch we hold annual parties including; a Summer BBQ also known as our Pre-school Graduation and a fun and exciting nativity followed by a visit from Father Christmas.

Whether you’re looking for full time care or just pre-school sessions, we aim to provide something convenient for everyone and with that, our sessions are flexible but reasonably priced.
